Richards Bay Cycle Challenge: POSTPONED
It is with regret that we announce the postponement of the Richards Bay Cycle Challenge until further notice.
This situation has been brought about due to some regulatory issues that have arisen due to the fact that we are still waiting for the SAPS Risk Categorisation documentation to be supplied. It should be noted that application to the relevant SAPS department was made for this event on 4th December 2025, and without the necessary certification, the event is at risk of being deemed to be non – compliant. Should this be case, then there are legal ramifications and possible problems should anything untoward happen at the event.
It is imperative that all cycling events in the province be complaint and follow all regulations at all times and that all organisers be held to the same standards. We want to ensure we are not circumventing any processes simply because it is desirous to stage the event. Further communication will be sent to all once more information is available and new arrangements are able to be put in place. However, it must be noted that the event will not be able to be staged before the end of March due to other events and activities already on the schedules.

This event will be run as a lap-based race, with riders competing within their respective age group categories. Join us for a celebration of competitive cycling, and community spirit. The Richard’s Bay Cycle Challenge forms part of the KZN Cycling Schools Road Series and Hills and Waves Series.
We are offering this event as free of charge by courtesy of the Department of Sports, Arts and Recreation. You will be responsible for purchasing your own CSA day license should you not already have one in place. As the event is free of charge, should you wish to make a donation for admin fees etc. a suggested amount of R 50,00 may be given at registration at the event should you wish.
